Capitol Crossing Will be One of District’s Largest Private Developments
Pro-Pave, Inc. has been hired by general contracting firm Balfour Beatty Construction to assist in the North Block phase of Washington, D.C.’s innovative Capitol Crossing development.
Developed by Property Group Partners, the $1.3-billion, 2.2-million square foot, elevated cityscape will ultimately span three blocks above I-395, and is slated to be one of the district’s largest private developments. Linking the district’s East End and Capitol Hill communities, the 7-acre Capitol Crossing project will offer office, retail, and public open space for both work and recreation. Designed to exceed LEED Platinum certification requirements, the project hopes to become Washington, D.C.’s first ever Eco-District.
The two-year, $3,100,507 contract awarded to Pro-Pave constitutes 12,000 square yards of concrete base paving; 12,000 square yards of asphalt paving; 5,200 square yards of utility trench repairs; and 33,000 square yards of mill and overlay work, which will be concentrated on Massachusetts Ave., NW, including streets 2nd through 4th, and G through I.
Pro-Pave’s work on the project is expected to be completed in 2018.
